National and International Private Investigators Day
Annually July 24th
The Passionate Search for the Facts
Associates in Forensic Investigations, LLC, a Rocky Mountain West Agency owned by Dean A. Beers, CLI, CCDI, CFI-FTER and Karen S. Beers, BSW, CCDI, CFI-FTER is pleased to endorse and participate in National and International Private Investigators Day!
Private Investigators provide a fundamental and vital role in society today, and have proven time after time to be an extremely valuable asset to society.
National and International Private Investigators Day is July 24th, commemorating the birth year of Eugene Francois Vidocq, the very first Private Investigator who founded the first known detective Agency in 1833.
Professional, licensed private investigators (P.I.s) join an estimated 80,000 private investigators across the United States in observing National Private Investigators Day every July 24th. Private Investigators in the United States will be joined by their international colleagues.
The first Private Investigators Day was recognized in October 1996 by Bob Mackowiak - then publisher and editor of PI Magazine; the day faded after 2002. Beginning in 2014, in order to make the public more aware of the important roles that Private Investigators play in society, Arthur Athas - owner/director of 'Private Investigators Now' (Melbourne, Australia) approached our agency to help reinvigorate this effort to recognize professional Private Investigators worldwide every year. Since that time, and each year, this day has become more recognized.
For more information about how you and your association can participate, please download this MS Word document - Sample Press Release and Resolution (from 2014 - adapt each year as appropriate).

From the first PI Day - October 1996 - by the founder of PI Magazine, Bob Mackowiak. We had refreshment donations from the family grocer Dean worked at until his first day as a PI. Karen was our only visitor to come by and took this pic of Dean and Dave Taggart. The space was donated by the public library and we had resolutions from the Colorado governor, county commissioners, and city council and mayor - some where we still have these (displayed in the photo background).

What Arthur has proposed in 2014:
Private Investigators provide a fundamental and vital role in society today. The industry has grown at a phenomenal rate with the changing needs, issues and demands of the private/domestic and corporate/government sectors. These issues and demands have impacted greatly and created services employing tens of thousands of Private Investigators globally. Private Investigators have proven time after time to be an extremely valuable asset to society, one which is often overlooked. We would like to seek the consideration of our friends and colleagues throughout the world, to support us on a quest to create an official "Private Investigator's Day". This would be a great way to promote the importance and significance of our existence and contribution to society.
We propose this day to be 24 July 2014, (then annually), commemorating the birth year of Eugene Francois Vidocq, the very first Private Investigator who founded the first known detective Agency in 1833. His legendary reputation is credited greatly with shaping the way law enforcement and investigations are carried out today. 24 July is also depicted as 24/7, which is the trading hours of any typical Private Investigator. Together, these make an easy day for us to remember.
-- What can the public do to support "Private Investigator's Day?"
Visit the Website or Facebook site of their local Private Investigator, leave a comment or review on Facebook, share the page to friends or simply leave a "like". Speak to a Private Investigator about your case, establish a connection with a Private Investigator and most important - keep the Private Investigator's details handy for any future reference.
