Special Announcement:
Death Investigation for Private Investigators

Homestudy Course

Associates in Forensic Investigations, LLC, are the developers of the Death Investigation for Private Investigators homestudy course, approved in several states for continuing education.  This course has previously available only for continuing education through PI Education.  In partnership with PI Education, our agency is now making the course directly available for those that do not need the continuing education credits and have an interest in learning more about death and injury causation investigations.  Those persons interested in death investigation and injury causation through homestudy, are encouraged to visit www.MedicolegalDeathInvestigations.com for more details - including how investigators can mitigate the course cost and earn higher fees.

This death investigation course is a basic introduction into the concepts of the official investigation of death and injury causation.  This course is designed to provide the investigator currently working in, or interested in working in, the death and personal injury investigation fields the knowledge and insight to informatively and intelligently conduct a criminal defense or civil investigation in which serious bodily injury or death is the subject matter of the litigation.

This is available as a partnership program at a discounted rate to education providers.  Co-branding with revenue sharing is also available.

Here is what one colleague recently said about our Death Investigation for Private Investigators homestudy course:
"I just finished your medicolegal death investigations for private investigators course. I must admit it was one of the best written courses I have taken in a long time. Not sure what I got on the test but I did get a certificate of completion. I truly enjoyed the content and managed to learn quite a bit as well. As far as the usefulness of the information I have already found two of my current cases that parts of the course provided me additional information as well as different routes of investigation that I may not have thought of or been aware of. Please accept my thanks and appreciation for your course. Thanks" (Curtis Burkett - Curtis Burkett & Associates Investigations)

Reviewing and Comprehending Autopsy Reports
We are also excited to announce the latest issue of Forensic Magazine published a condensed version of Dean’s 'Reviewing and Comprehending Autopsy Reports'.  This was originally his Certified Legal Investigator examination white paper for the National Association of Legal Investigators (NALI).  Although condensed for space, it remains very informative.  The full 20+ page white paper is available.

Reviewing and Comprehending Autopsy Reports - Understanding the value of the autopsy report and the information accompanying it is a valuable asset to all investigators.

October 15, 2013 – For Immediate Release – Charleston, SC

Dean A. Beers, CLI, CCDI
Elected as 3rd Vice President of National Council of Investigation & Security Services

The National Council of Investigation & Security Service (NCISS) held its annual meeting and conference, from October 9th to October 12th, in Charleston SC.  Elections were also held.  Dean A. Beers, CLI, CCDI was nominated and elected to the position of 3rd Vice President.  He was most recently Secretary and previously the Regional Director (CO, WY, NE, NM, ID & UT).

Dean is looking forward to continued work on the legislative issues that impact professional investigators and security personnel throughout the country, primarily concerning federal legislation and rule making, as well as with states and their associations on local matters.  The three vice presidents of NCISS have been tasked with jointly co-chairing the new State Legislative Awareness Monitoring (SLAM) with 1st Vice President James Huckabee and 2nd Vice President Thomas Shamshak.  The six elected Regional Directors and four Members at Large make up this committee.

NCISS has over 900 members and serves over 60,000 individuals.  NCISS is a cooperative effort of those companies and associations responsible for providing private security and investigation services to the legal profession, business community, government and the public. Each day an increasing number of problems confront the orderly growth of our profession. These problems include, among others: overly restrictive legislation regarding training and standards, proliferation of legislation requiring local licensing, public misunderstanding and misinformation on the role and contribution of private investigators and security services, and an uninformed media. It is the role of NCISS to meet and solve these problems while seeking to uncover and recommend action on any hidden potential problems which may have an effect on our profession.

Dean is the past Board Chairman of the Professional Private Investigators Association of Colorado, Governor of the Americas for the World Association of Detectives, and Region 6 representative on the Certified Legal Investigator committee for the National Association of Legal Investigators.  In addition, he is a member of the Florida Association of Licensed Investigators, Texas Association of Licensed Investigators, California Association of Licensed Investigators, and the Criminal Defense Investigation Training Council.

Respectfully submitted, Associates in Forensic Investigations, LLC
