Private Investigators Day - July 24, 2014
Our agency celebrated the first (and likely only other) National Private Investigators Day almost 20 years ago (Bob Mackowiak, then owner/publisher of PI Magazine).  We are glad to participate in this and are asking our colleagues to do the same.  Follow the link and join the event - and then promote the day and all the goodwill that PIs do!

Here is the event link on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/events/713628748701038

If you, your agency and/or association sponsor this day, please let us know.

More details will follow and will be in our June agency newsletter, as well as updated on this blog (please share - http://www.deathcasereview.com/afi-llc-blog/private-investigators-day)

Our thanks to
Arthur Athas - owner/director of 'Private Investigators Now' based in Melbourne-Victoria Australia

What Arthur has proposed:

Private Investigators provide a fundamental and vital role in society today. The industry has grown at a phenomenal rate with the changing needs, issues and demands of the private/domestic and corporate/government sectors. These issues and demands have impacted greatly and created services employing tens of thousands of Private Investigators globally. Private Investigators have proven time after time to be an extremely valuable asset to society, one which is often overlooked. We would like to seek the consideration of our friends and colleagues throughout the world, to support us on a quest to create an official "Private Investigator's Day". This would be a great way to promote the importance and significance of our existence and contribution to society.

We propose this day to be 24 July 2014, (then annually), commemorating the birth year of Eugene Francois Vidocq, the very first Private Investigator who founded the first known detective Agency in 1833. His legendary reputation is credited greatly with shaping the way law enforcement and investigations are carried out today. 24 July is also depicted as 24/7, which is the trading hours of any typical Private Investigator. Together, these make an easy day for us to remember.

-- What can the public do to support "Private Investigator's Day?"
Visit the Website or Facebook site of their local Private Investigator, leave a comment or review on Facebook, share the page to friends or simply leave a "like". Speak to a Private Investigator about your case, establish a connection with a Private Investigator and most important - keep the Private Investigator's details handy for any future reference.

-- What can Private Investigators do?
Share, copy and paste the link on your site. Promote the event proudly. Offer a discount on services for the day, for the week or the month.

Investigate Innocence Cases with Caution

Unless your head is buried in the sand, or you do not have the Internet, or perhaps you do not even own a television set, then you have seen the many news stories of the innocent individuals who have been released from prison. Most of the releases have been due to DNA evidence that have proven their innocence.

Personally I think this is wonderful, and every story I have read about these releases have made me feel happiness for the innocent, yet saddened that they were forced to spend so many years of their lives innocently confined to prison, separated from their loved ones, unable to live the life of freedom they deserved to live.

Update - Mandatory PI Licensing in Colorado headed to Governor

5/3/2014

Special Announcement:
Mandatory Licensing of Private Investigators - now headed to the governor's desk!

AFI-LLC were chartered licensed investigators under the voluntary program since July 2012, expiring this year with the repeal of voluntary and now the pending enactment of mandatory PI licensing. This week the bill passed through the final vote of the House an is pending signature by the governor.

Congratulations to the Professional Private Investigators Association of Colorado, the licensing committee and supporters of many years in seeing this through. A great deal of work, over many years - and for many many weeks again from mid 2013 to now - has been done. Associations are as strong as their membership and leaders, and a great deal takes place on a daily basis that is simply unrecognized. These accomplishments often take a great deal of personal and professional time and sacrifice, hundreds of hours and even days.

Our special thanks to each of those who have done so much - from as far back as when PPIAC was founded shortly after licensing was lost in 1977, to now. This is built on the brick by brick successes and failures of past and recent determination and endurance.

We hope you will join me in extending this recognition and appreciation - from members of PPIAC and colleagues as professionals and members, to the PPIAC board and licensing committee - and those that have filled all three roles at times.

Now, only for the governor to sign...and then preparing for program enactment in about a year.
